The inspiration to this recipe is, having a big bag of Power greens (Kale, chard, spinach) sitting in my fridge. Got the bag from Costco store. I already made  Power greens Chutney using it. I wanted to incorporate em in a different recipe.

My Son loves Punjabi Chole or Kala Chana Masala and Chapathi (Plain Paratha) Combo. While planning for dinner, I thought of using these Greens with Chana (chickpeas).I already have Chana (Chickpeas), which were soaked and ready to use.

Once in a while, I soak excess Chana and freeze em for use later. You can also freeze boiled Chana. It works perfectly when you wanna make Chole unplanned or even a quick sundal (Seasoned Chickpeas) to go with Tea when guests show up unexpectedly.

The recipe is made using Instant Pot , my new acquisition. The Saag Chana Masala turned out perfect in the Instant pot. The Greens added a nice creamy texture and color. You can also use either of these greens alone if not all. You can also make it in regular or electric pressure cooker. My Son devoured it and took in lunchbox too along with Roti. We had em with Jeera rice, my another favorite Instant pot recipe and fried Eggs. I haven't updated instant pot jeera rice recipe yet but the Rice cooker recipe is here- Jeera (Cumin) rice .

  15. Add ground Masala now to the Pot. Cook for few minutes.
