As a vegetarian, Protein consumption is important to me. I try to include it everywhere possible. Anyway the beauty of Indian food is , it’s balanced with all food groups. I just follow the old recipes with lil bit of tweaking. One such recipe is this, Raw banana paired with Chana dal. It’s rich in Protein, veggies n fiber. Paired with Rice/Roti, it’s a wholesome meal.

Back home, our family makes lots of similar recipes. I  gave links below in the post to all those recipes. While making these recipes, we reserve the water from boiled lentils and make Charu (Rasam) to go with it and it's nutritious, delicious. The pic below has the lentil Rasam that can be made in 10 minutes. It's a typical simple Telugu meal, Rice, curry, Rasam/Charu and yogurt.

This recipe can be made in Instant pot to. Saves lots of time. Steam cook Banana and lentils in separate pots. Once done rest of seasoning can be finished in Instant pot again. I use the below model and I love it.I use it mainly to cook Rice, to cook beans, dhal, Pongal,Biryanis and more. I can cook Rice for my Kids and quinoa for me same time using PIP method. Pls check IP recipe below after stove top recipe.

  2. Clean n Cut 3 Bananas, each into 2 pieces. Pressure cook for a whistle or steam with no whistle for 10 minutes .Pressure cooking makes it easy to peel the skin and also easy to chop.
  3. You can also place Chanadal in cooker along with Banana, in a separate bowl. So they both get cooked same time.
  4. Or Boil Chana dal with water on stove till trey are parboiled but not mashed. Drain and keep Dhal aside.
  5. After pressure cooking Peel and Chop Banana into medium size cubes.
