Mango Lassi is a creamy, rich n flavorful Indian smoothie made my blending Yogurt and mango puree together. Lassi is a sweet and salty buttermilk drink, usually enjoyed during blazing Indian summers.During summers we used to drink Lassi, Ragi lassi and Sherbet (Lemonade) to fight the heat and cool the body.

There is only one thing I like about Indian summers, Mangoes :-). Sweet n delicious mangoes. My favorite way of enjoying mangoes is to have em along with plain rice and curd(Yogurt).I never had mango lassi in India though. The first time I have tasted it is, in US, in Indian restaurants. I loved this drink. We used to get a full box of mango pulp cans and used to make mango lassi or milk shake with it. Crazy ha! :-). Also I use mango pulp to make Mango pie/Mango mousse. We got in the habit of using mango pulp coz the mangoes that are available in US are not so tasty and lack flavor. Also with pulp you can make mango recipes any time you want coz they have longer shelf life thus handy.

Today I’m in the mood to make something special so I made Karapu Appalu (Spicy Rice flour Rotis) which is a Telangana delicacy. To enjoy along with the spicy food, I made this Mango Lassi. What a combo! Also don’t forget to check my other Mango recipes; Mango Mousse, Mango mousse cake.

You can make this mango lassi in less than 5 minutes. As I said about I have used canned pulp. But you can use fresh mangoes if you like the taste.I have used home made yogurt/Curd in this recipe. My yogurt is teeny bit sour which enhanced the lassi flavor naturally. If you are using store bought yogurt, use less yogurt as they are very thick. Finally when you taste the drink you can always adjust it by adding required ingredients.I have used sugar to sweeten the lassi but you can also use honey for a healthier drink. You can also adjust sugar according to your taste or totally skip. You do not need any water as the final drink supposed to be thick. If you want to thin it little use Milk. Lil bit of Milk subtle down the flavors. But it's optional.

Lil bit about the tray, I bought a wooden tray and hand painted it myself. Isn't it cute. You can find the tray in the link below.I used Acrylic paints and finished with protective varnish.
